I Failed. Now what?
Here's Why Failure BEATS Success.
Why do we get so caught up in expected failures?
Is it to avoid the thought of embarrassment?
To save ourselves from feeling “stupid”?
Really ask yourself this question anytime you start to question failure.
Failure is a part of our lives & it should not be avoided at any cost.
Without failure, there is really no purpose to life.
Everybody has similar thought processes.
Nobody builds real discipline.
Nobody innovates.
The Light Bulb
Let’s take the invention of the light bulb as a prime example.
Thomas Edison didn’t create the lightbulb out of thin air.
It took more than manifestation to get it done.
He used his failures as pieces of feedback to look back on & ways to take note on unexpected possibilities.
Can you guess how many iterations it took for Thomas to successfully complete this transformational invention?
That’s right.
10,000+ Iterations & Attempts
While it might have been a mournful & repetitive project, he decided to stick with it.
He didn’t lose sight.
He didn’t lose discipline.
He simply kept going until he got it done.
If He Quit
Now imagine if Thomas Edison decided to quit.
Hundreds of iterations out of the window.
A transformational innovation in human history, gone.
There would be no sort of technology as we have today.
No way to discover the depths of the universe.
Can you see the danger in this?
Use Thomas Edison’s iterations as a prime example to keep yourself going.
Why is Failure Important?
There are psychological reasons that account to failure as a staple in our lives.
Those being;
Ability to Learn & Grow
Ability to Intake Creative Feedback & Intel
Ability to Build Resilience & Perseverance
Learn & Grow
Coming back to Thomas Edison’s story, there was no way he would’ve been able to re-iterate new strategies without these failures, as they gave him a reason to keep learning & growing through the process.
Making mistakes is engraved in our blood.
We’re human, not robots.
Although this doesn’t exclude you to learning & growing from your failures.
It’s essential to fail if you want to achieve a sense of purpose & spiritual wealth.
You can keep those certain factors in mind for the future.
The factors that played into your failures.
Matter of fact, you should strive for failure routinely.
Make it a ritual habit to fail at least once a day.
You won’t recognize yourself a year later.
Creative Feedback & Intel
Think about a time in your life when you might have felt like you were at a loss of a positive life trajectory.
How did you regain traction?
Certainly not by giving up & retreating.
You probably reflected on the reasons you were at a loss of positive trajectory.
You realized what was holding you back & you re-attacked from a different angle.
Instead of going for a punch, you decided to go with a kick.
Maybe an elbow to the face.
Or a knee to the groin.
A little gruesome there, although the point is you didn’t stick to the same thing, hoping for a different outcome.
You took a different approach to solving the puzzle.
If you were in a bad rut for example, you didn’t sift through it.
You changed a few of your daily habits & routines to get your mind back in the groove.
Creative feedback & intel is key to attaining new perspectives & outcomes.
Resilience & Perseverance
Would you agree that failure correlates to our level of competence?
I know I would.
The level of competence one has is merely reflected by the sheer volume of mistakes they have made throughout their life.
They understand that they won’t achieve their aspirations without necessary perseverance & discipline.
For example let’s say you wanted to go for 6am runs every morning for the rest of your life.
What will get you to that point?
You can’t expect do it out of the blue & stick to it if you have never ran before.
You need prior experience & failures to work on top of.
Start going for shorter distance runs around 9am, 10am, or whenever you wake up. (Just don’t use the treadmill)
You will eventually notice how much easier it becomes to stick to that habit.
The point here being, don’t let your failures tear down the bigger picture you have for yourself.
Conclusion
So what did you get out of this letter?
Learn & Grow from Mistakes
Gain Creative Feedback & Intel for Next Attempt
Build Resilience & Perseverance through Failures
As a result, these 3 major components are what will directly tie into the success you aspire to & the ultimate lifestyle needed to get there.
After all, if there are no lessons to be learned, it’s not worth the accomplishment.
