It's very common advice to hear others say to "follow your passion."

While it is true to an extent, you shouldn't automatically believe that you will make hundreds of thousands of dollars with your passion for fishing.

Sure, fishing can be a good niche to dive into, although you need other crucial skills to successfully monetize that passion.

Here's a couple reasons why most people can't monetize their skills & interests.

Discovering your Skills & Interests

The first step is by far the most important.

If you mess this up, you'll end up wasting a lot of exerted time trying to excel at something you won't enjoy.

The first stepping stone is to write down all of your skills & interests. Then once that's done you simply find a pattern within those skills & interests.

If you find yourself to be a creative type of person who likes outdoor sports & physical activities, then your passion could be correlated with a physical or self-development audience.

Pick a Skill to Monetize

Now that you have written down all of your current skills & interests, you want to now pick the skills you either know the most about or want to eventually teach about.

This means you will try to get close to an "expert level" with what it is that you want to invest most of your time learning about.

The goal is to deep dive into this skill & practice it every single day.

All that's left for you to do is now dive into the depths of your skills over time.

You want to spend a great heap of time learning more & more about the topic so you can become the best teacher or expert that you can.
